Making the Brief a Little More Brief.

Updated: May 22, 2019

No this weeks post isn't about underwear briefs, shocker. Following on from last week (Week 3) I hadn't much of an opportunity to look more at the brief and had missed the class in week 4 due to not being able to get out fo a shift in work. The timing for the three of us to all meet up wasn't exactly ideal until today, the day of our deadline but we had all planned to meet in the classroom at 12 the day before and luckily none of us had anything else planned so we could go through the brief a bit more thoroughly than the last time.

All three of us had agreed none of us were 100% sure on what exactly we were being asked to do for the presentation so we decided that rewriting the brief would be the best idea. I had already rewritten the brief in a more simpler way, breaking it up into different points so that I would be able to cross off different sections as they were completed. Having done this it was quickly adjustable to suit what the brief meant for the three of us and what tasks we have ahead of us both as individuals and as a group.

The following is what I like to call a brief version of the brief:

Second Life Group Project Brief Rewrite- Rob, Alicia, Eva

For this project we are asked to consider how you might address the problems facing society while earning a living and living our lives. Do we as a group accept the premise of the World Scientists?

Can we see ways in which it is possible to work for a more sustainable engagement with our planet?

Working in our group we must present our findings in a engaging, fun and knowledgeable way in any format we wish once it can be saving and stored for review in the future.

This means we can choose whichever medium we most feel comfortable with as a group to present wether it be a video, power point, audio etc. -The more various types of mediums we use the better.

This presentation will need to be presented LIVE on SL and cannot be any shorter than 5 minutes or longer than 10 minutes.

We EACH need to describe the progress of the project weekly in blogposts with emphasis on our personal contributions toward the project - what do I bring the the project and how well does it fit -

Things to keep in mind for each post throughout-

Try to include in each post the details of the project and the issues -positive and negative- that arise while working in a digital based group project. How easy is it to meet up in SL and plan the project? What difficulties arise in development? How easy/difficult is it to communicate? What particular problems arise and how do you as an individual and/or as a team deal with them?

Remember to focus on the experience and write honest posts rather than what you think might be the “right” thing to write.

We came to the agreement that we would continue on with the weekly plan that we set out in the previous week, doing the readings given to us and discussing them each week that we meet. This way it will be spaced out, not become too overpowering and we can all have an even chance of getting through the work together. One thing I do think that we need to try improve on as a group, me being one of the main enablers of this, is to try find a time closer to each class that we can meet. We did successfully meet in the first week but this week it took almost a week for us all to be free but like I said I do think that it was completely out of our control and we were able to work past it, meeting in time to get the work done and submitted.
